Graduate Seminars on Global Issues
Launched in the mid-1970s with funding from the Ford Foundation, the Graduate Seminars on Global Issues have been pivotal in bringing together graduate students from across disciplinary and regional boundaries. The seminars are self-directed. The themes for each year are selected by DUCIS on a competitive basis. For academic year 2008-2009 we have approved four seminars on the themes of global health, human rights, environment, and ethics.
In past years, the graduate students have elected to invite in guest speakers and organize conferences.
The 2008-2009 Graduate Seminars are:
- Ethics after Modernism Graduate Working Group
- Global Health Graduate Working Group
- Human Rights Graduate Working Group
- Towards a Political Ecology Graduate Working Group
