I want to remind all of you about appropriate precautions for preventing and/or dealing with the H1N1 flu virus.
Most important, if you get sick, stay at home. Flu symptoms include: a fever of 100 degrees F or higher AND cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body ache, headache, chills, unusual fatigue, diarrhea or vomiting. The key symptom is the fever. You should stay home for 24 hours after your fever resolves/goes away.
If you get the flu, please go to http://www.duke.edu/flu/getting_sick/index.html#students and fill out the "Short Term Illness Notification" form on-line. This form will alert your professors and me. Please don't skip this step if you suspect you have the flu or other illness that will cause you to miss more than one day of class.
If you get sick, contact Student Health 919-681-9355. Treatment is free for students. The sooner you take care of yourself the quicker will be your recovery and return to normal activities. The Web site provides other recommendations for staying healthy.
As always for this or any other matter related to your enrollment in the Nicholas School, please contact Cindy Peters (firstname.lastname@example.org) in Enrollment Services if you have questions or concerns.
